Stakeholder Relations

External stakeholders, entity discovery, cross-org access, and positions.

Overview
How stakeholders from different organizations connect.

Finpy supports cross-organization stakeholder relationships. An LP in Organization A can see their position on a fund's cap table in Organization B — without needing access to the full fund dashboard. This is powered by entity discovery and stakeholder linking.

Entity Discovery & Claim Flow
How external stakeholders find and connect to your entity.
1

Enable Discovery

Fund admin marks their entity as discoverable in the entity settings. This makes it visible in Discover Entities.

2

Search & Find

The external stakeholder goes to Discover Entities and searches by entity name.

3

Request Access

The stakeholder sends a claim request to the entity owner.

4

Admin Approves

The entity admin reviews the request and approves or rejects the connection.

5

Access Granted

Once approved, the stakeholder can see their positions, commitments received, and distributions from the Stakeholder Relations section.

Features
What connected stakeholders can see and do.

Positions

View your positions across all entities where you're a stakeholder. See units, ownership percentage, and investment amount.

Commitments Received

View commitment invitations sent to you by fund managers. Accept, commit capital, or pass.

Distributions

View distributions you've received from entities where you hold positions.

Cross-Org Access

Access cap table data from entities in other organizations without needing full organization membership.

How Linking Works

Each stakeholder has a Source Entity that points to the investing entity. When an external organization claims a stakeholder position, their entity is linked as the source. This allows the system to show positions across organizations.

Protected Field: The Source Entity link on a stakeholder is protected — only the entity owner can modify it. This prevents unauthorized organizations from claiming positions they don't own.
